Key idea

Compare the same level of hardware: a chip specification and a finished board specification are not interchangeable.

Write the constraints first

Describe the sensing rate, interfaces, communications, available power and software needs before choosing hardware. Check the exact board revision and module variant. A project with a wired sensor logger can have a different priority from one that must transmit readings wirelessly.

Two documented examples

Raspberry Pi lists Pico 2 with an RP2350, up to 150 MHz processing and 520 KB SRAM; wireless connectivity is specific to Pico 2 W. Espressif lists ESP32-S3 as a dual-core LX7 SoC, up to 240 MHz, with 512 KB internal SRAM and integrated 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE. External flash, extra memory and exposed pins depend on the chosen board or module.

Treat the comparison as a shortlist

These examples illustrate different design options; they are not a performance ranking. The IIMEEE comparison uses manufacturer documentation, not hands-on benchmarks. Before purchase, verify the complete board specification, power behavior, programming support and local seller terms against the intended application.

Evidence basis: official-source educational synthesis. No original experimental result or hands-on product test is claimed.
